My Goal:

My goal is to raise awareness and funds to cure Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

My mission is to raise awareness and funds for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome through a month-long hike across the scenic French Alps. Why am I undertaking this challenging journey? Because I seek to spark conversations, educate the public, and garner support for those affected by this weakening illness. I aim to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals battling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, through dedicated efforts and the generosity of donors.

All funds raised will be donated to the Open Medicine Foundation (OMF), an internationally recognized organization dedicated to advancing biomedical research on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). OMF supports leading research centers around the world with the goal of better understanding the disease, developing effective treatments, and ultimately finding a cure.

My Adventure:

The Grande Traversée des Alpes, also known as the Great Crossing of the French Alps, is a renowned long-distance hiking trail encompassing the picturesque landscapes of the French Alps.

Spanning from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea. This challenging route of 600 km offers breathtaking views of the most majestic peaks of the Alps such as Mont Blanc, Aiguille Verte and Barre des Ecrins. I will traverse the most beautiful valleys of the Alps, l’Oisans, le Queyras, and le Mercantour.

As I prepare to embark on this inspiring journey in the summer of 2025, I will hike to raise awareness and funds for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Who am I ?

My name is Frederic Laarman. I am 16 years old. I am a pupil at Winchester College in the south of England. My hobbies are sports: football, rugby, climbing and skiing. I enjoy classical subjects such as Latin and Greek. Later I want to study Classics at university.

Fundraiser Goal:

I aim to raise 3,000€ for this cause.

Through your generous donations the 3,000€ will be enough to help scientists find a cure.
